Collective Bargaining

HCEA is Your Voice at the Table!

Each year HCEA appoints a team of negotiators that reviews the current contract, solicits input from members, and develops a priority list of member needs prior to going to the negotiating table.  We also have a variety of outside consultants that provide professional advice on Healthcare and the Board of Education’s Financial state.

Why do we need a Collective Bargaining Agreement?

Collective bargaining provides a process by which the Board and employees work out a binding contract that outlines wages, salary and step increases, working hours, benefits, training, health and safety, and grievance mechanisms.  By allowing employees to have a voice in employment issues and advocate for improvements in working conditions, strong collective bargaining can create a shared sense of governance that creates a win-win for both Administrators and teachers.
